Jennie Blanche Warsop married Frank Appleyard<\/a> on September 11th 1911 at Wadsley Church Sheffield.<\/p>\n

While investigating Frank Appleyard’s history some focus was given to Jennie Blanche.\u00a0 This has thrown up a number of things of interest about her and\u00a0 her family.<\/p>\n

Jennie Blanche Warsop was born 19th July 1888. Records for St John the\u00a0 Baptist\u00a0 Church Owlerton\u00a0<\/span> show that Jennie was baptised\u00a0 as an adult on the 9th March 1908.<\/p>\n

The 1911 census shows\u00a0Jennie Blanche Warsop\u00a0<\/span> living at 258 St Philips Road, Sheffield along with two brothers, a sister and parents. Confusingly both her sister and mother are named as “Mary Alice Warsop”. This does not appear to be a census error as there other references to the name.<\/p>\n

Warsop Brothers Confectioners<\/h2>\n

The\u00a01911 census also shows family all working in the confectionery\u00a0 business.\u00a0 This is confirmed from numerous Sheffield directories that contain entries for Warsop Brothers – confectioners.\u00a0 The occupation of Joseph William Warsop – the signatory for the census entry is “Confectioner & Proprietor”.\u00a0 So this identifies him as one of the\u00a0 brothers.\u00a0 In addition, his two sons Joseph Walter and Vigour Arnold have professions of “Assistant Travelor”,\u00a0 presumably related to the\u00a0 family\u00a0 business.\u00a0 Jennie herself is shown as a “Junior Clerk” and\u00a0 Mary Alice, the sister has the\u00a0 profession of “Manging Clerk”.\u00a0 A truly family business.<\/span><\/p>\n
