The sequence of connections was as follows. \u00a0Kelly’s directory for 1924 contains the following two entries, on the East side of Harrow View: “Appleyard Stanley (Ballintrae)” and “Vickers Jones L.-Col. Conrad H. (Hillside)”.\u00a0 The 1939 England and Wales register shows Conrad H V Jones (born Dec 3rd 1878) and Dorothy V Jones (born June 14th 1890) living at 125 Harrow View.\u00a0 So the mystery of the\u00a0 ‘Hillside’ name above the\u00a0 door bell in the\u00a0 above was solved.<\/p>\n

Similar images of Appleyard family members are dated September 1921.<\/span> If the photos date from 1921, then the two girls in the images could well be the daughters of Conrad and Dorothy Jones.\u00a0 No other evidence has been found,\u00a0 so far, to confirm this.\u00a0 These and other photos suggest a closeness between the neighbours in the six houses 117-127 Harrow View –\u00a0<\/a>something rarer in today’s era.<\/p>\n

There remain questions as to what was the connection between Stanley Appleyard’s family and the occupants of\u00a0 Hillside 125 Harrow View.<\/span><\/p>\n
