How Ballintrae was associated with 121 Harrow View is the essence of\u00a0 this post. The starting point was the\u00a0 following stamp on several of Stanley Appleyard’s photo albums:-<\/p>\n

The electoral registers and telephone directories confirm these dates.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Harrow electoral registers, including\u00a0 1920, show Stanley Appleyard as resident at\u00a0 “Ballintrae” Harrow View. \u00a0 These early references show only house names\u00a0 in Harrow View on the east side of the street beyond 88.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The images of the\u00a0 six houses 117-127 Harrow View can be found\u00a0 here<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Above shows Stanley Appleyard and family at the rear of 121 Harrow View. The clean nature\u00a0 of the setting suggests the house was quite new at the time. The rear profile of the wall is consistent with the following map from the 1940s\u00a0 map<\/a><\/p>\n

At first sight just an anonymous front door, but the distinctive bell-push and window to side are apparent in the following\u00a0 images.\u00a0 The above, based on the colour appears to have been reprinted later.<\/p>\n
