Great Yarmouth yacht station and old tower.Olive is still around today\u00a0 and references to it can be found in several places including the\u00a0<\/span>National Historic Ships UK <\/a>site.\u00a0 That site states the construction date as 1909. \u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0<\/span>Collins Legacy<\/a> page (part of Broadland Memories) also states construction date as 1909:-<\/span><\/p>\n

“He [Ernest Collins] must have been very pleased with her because when he designed \u201cOlive\u201d, his first wherry yacht in 1909..”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the page goes on\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

“In 1906, six Londoners from a London tennis club applied to the railway company for a list of boatyards and eventually hired a wherry yacht from Ernest Collins. “<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0 link\u00a0Broadland Memories Blog<\/a> describes the start of Blakes\u00a0 with the\u00a0 sentence:-<\/p>\n

“<\/span>In 1906, Harry Blake was so enamoured with the area after holidaying on the Norfolk Broads that he approached Ernest Collins at Wroxham, promising to increase his holiday bookings if Collins would allow Blake to become his agent in London.”<\/p>\n

Perhaps it is just wishful thinking to imagine that Harry Blake was with Stanley Appleyard on board Olive in 1906.\u00a0 Stanley Appleyard was a keen tennis player – he belonged to Headstone Lawn Tennis Club for many years.
