Jolly Boating – on the Thames
A number of similar images from 1912-1914 involving Stanley Appleyard and companions enjoying an idyllic time by the river. Originally thought to be located near Sheffield based on family connections with Sheffield. But the industrial nature of the Sheffield and Tinsley canal at the time would seem to rule that out. Similar idyllic boating images can be found of the Thames an this now sees to be the definite location. The exact location of the lock still to be determined.
Bacton-on-Sea images
A number of images of the rented holiday home in Bacton-on-sea in August 1938. Where is it? Answer can be found here Little Gables Images 1938.
Gorleston Pavilion Theatre
Amongst a family photo album entitled “Gorleston-on-Sea August 1928” there is the following postcard image:-
The assumption is that this was from a show at the Gorleston Pavilion Theatre . In the album the rear of the postcard is not readable because the card is stuck in the album. However traces of the postmark are clear on the front. The postcard was produced by Walter Gardiner Photographer of Worthing.
